Historical Note

Daniel Stephen Halacy (1919-2002) was an author and aviator. After serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Halacy entered the field of aircraft construction. He was then drafted into the Korean War where he flew B-29 aircraft and served as an electronics specialist. When the war ended, Halacy and his family moved to Arizona where he attended Phoenix College and Arizona State College and earned degrees in English. Halacy worked as a technical writer for aerospace companies until the early 1960s when he had achieved enough success to become a freelance author. He was the author of 78 works in all. Halacy served as an Arizona state senator from 1967 until 1970. In 1979, he took a job with the Solar Energy Research Institute in Golden Colorado, working there until 1984.
