Biographical Note
Frederick Woodward Skiff (1868-1947) was a collector and dealer of rare books and American antiques, based in Portland, Oregon.
Content Description
Collection consists of three albums (Album 437, Album 438, and Album 439) containing 703 black and white photographs and 5 cyanotypes, 1907-1938, of Frederick Woodward Skiff and family. Album 437 includes images of Seaside, Gearhart and Camp Jackson, in Oregon, and many photos of children, residence interiors, and outdoor activities. Album 438, entitled "Island Snaps," includes images of fishing and hunting at Silver Lake, Washington, interior and exterior shots of Skiff's cabin at the lake, gardening, dogs, livestock, hunting and fishing licenses, and a typescript copy of a speech by Chief Seattle. Album 439 includes images of fishing, hunting, sailing, camping, hunting lodges, and golf in Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico; Berkeley, California; Lexington, Massachusetts; New York; Washougal, Washington; Oregon; and Connecticut.
