Historical Note

Dr. Jack P. Maddex, Jr. (1941-) is an emeritus professor of history at the University of Oregon. Maddex received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1963 and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1966. He started teaching at the University of Oregon in 1966. He taught in the History Department and also had a concurrent appointment in the Department of Religious Studies starting in 1986. Maddex collected material produced by the third camp Trotskyist organization International Socialists and its predecessor, the Independent Socialist Clubs of America.
