Historical Note
The National Suffolk Sheep Association was established in 1939. One of the purposes of the association was to keep historical records of the lineage of the Suffolk breed in the United States in a registry format. In about 1999 the National Suffolk Sheep Association merged with the National Suffolk Sheep Society to form the United Suffolk Sheep Association that continues the mission of both organizations.

The records contain an extensive sheep registry in an index card format, applications for registry by year, board minutes, correspondence, financial records, breeders directories, files, books, audio cassettes, film, and plaques.
