Historical Note
Donald W. Norwood was a cinematographer. He and cinematographer Karl Freund created the Norwood Director, which is a series of hand-held light meters. The design was patented in 1940. Sekonic of Japan acquired the rights to manufacture the Norwood Direction in 1957.
Content Description
The collection contains a photocopy of manuscript by Norwood titled “Where Now Are Our Gifted Inventors;” pamphlets by Norwood or about his inventions (1948-1950); periodicals on cinematography (1939-1969); a program for a 1972 awards banquet; and a reprint of a 1969 article about a Norwood invention (1969).
