Historical Note

Seattle council of Washington State organization of parents, teachers, and students. The Parent Teacher Board for Child Welfare was created in 1931 by the Association to receive and administer funds for the provision of lunches, carfare, clothing, and other absolute necessities for disadvantaged children.

In ca. 1973, the Washington Congress of Parents and Teachers, Seattle Council. parent body changed its name to Washington Congress of Parents, Teachers, and Students, Seattle Council.

Content Description

Minutes, yearbooks, mailings, and scrapbooks, of the council and of local PTA's in Seattle. The minutes begin under the name of Washington Congress of Mothers ca. 1911.

PTA groups are documented from the following schools: Dunlap Preschool PTA. Fauntleroy Preschool PTA; school closed in 1981. Briarcliff Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1984. Cedar Park Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1981. Decatur Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1989. Fairview Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1978. F.A. McDonald Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1981. Magnolia Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1981. Pinehurst Elementary School PTA; school closed in 1981. Rainier View Elementary School PTA. Jane Adams Junior High School PTA; school closed in 1983. Boren Junior High School PTA; school closed in 1981.
