Historical NoteReturn to Top
Fritz A. Nagel (1891-1978) was an attorney in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Cornell in 1912 and from Harvard in 1915. After service in World War I, he was employed by American Bank and Trust Company (later the American National Bank) in Denver, first as a trust officer, and later as vice president and general counsel. In 1933, he went into private practice in the firm of Winters and Nagel, and from 1942-1962, practiced with Pershing, Bosworth, Dick & Dawson and its successor firms. He was involved in a family financial management group, Nagel Investment Company, which was liquidated in 1963. Nagel had two sons, Fritz G. and Jerome K. Nagel.

The collection includes approximately 300 handwritten letters from Nagel chiefly to Fritz G. Nagel and his wife Barbara and to Jerome K. Nagel. There is financial information of the Nagel Investment Company (1938-1963); Nagel trust materials (1944-1972); autobiographical notes by Fritz A. Nagel; historical information on the American National Bank of Denver; legal documents; a genealogical chart compiled by Jerome K. Nagel; and miscellaneous other materials.
