Historical Note

President Glenn Terrell appointed Ms. Pamela Jackson as the Director of Affirmative Action and Special Programs at WSU in 1973.The program would focus heavily on the development of equal rights for women as well as fair workplace practices to included equal pay and maternity leave.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting performed by staff.

Boxes 1, 14, 21, 24-25, 29, 34, and 36-37 were shredded due to privacy concerns. Box 2 consists of administrative data from 1975-1986 and Affirmative Action Newsletters between 1982-1986. Box 3 consists of administrative data from 1979-1986, computer soft wear user manuals, and recruitment manuals. Box 4 consists of the Affirmative Action Newsletters from 4/1980-12/1983 and handicapped accommodation plans. Box 5 consists of admin data from 1980-1983 and reference materials for backdating the needs of learning impaired students. Box 6 consists off Title IX resources and guidelines for meeting the needs of the handicapped. Box 7-12 consists of admin data from 1976-1987. Box 13 consists of admin data from 1982-1985 and cases reviewed by the Affirmative Action Committee. Box 15 consists of administrative data from 1980-1983. Box 16 consists of administrative date from 1983 and documents related to Intercollegiate Athletics from 1974. Box 17 consists of Salary Equity Reports from 1973-1980. Box 18-35 consist of administrative data from 1972-1985.

Acquisition Information

This material was transferred to WSU Libraries' MASC by the Affirmative Action Office on May 23, 1989 and retained as UA1989-13.

Processing Note

(MASC STAFF USE) Nine boxes were discarded in 2018 due to privacy concerns. Box 13 requires review for concerns of privacy violations and may need to be shredded.
