Historical Note
Leonard W. Wing (1906-1975) was an ecologist, ornithologist, educator, and author. He earned a BS at the University of Michigan and a doctorate in ornithology and wildlife management at the University of Wisconsin. Wing completed post-doctorate research in forest ecology at Yale University. He served on the faculties of Washington State University and Texas A and M. Wing served as a consultant to the National Association of Audubon Societies and the Tennessee Valley Authority. He also worked as editor for the Journal of Cycle Research.

Collection contains banding data; bird records; books on ornithology; bulletins from numerous academic and professional institutions; correspondence; documents from the U.S.D.A., Department of Commerce, Department of the Interior, Naval Observatory, and the War Department; maps; research and teaching notes; nature pamphlets; periodicals; personal papers; photographs; conservation reports and studies; speeches; and miscellaneous material.
