Biographical Note

William Elder came west from Michigan in 1907, lured by the prospects of wealth to be made from mining investments. He invested his own money, and that of others, with less than spectacular success.

Content Description

The collection consists of engineering reports on mines, 1908-1919; mining property contracts, 1908-1919; articles of incorporation for mining companies, 1908-1916; and correspondence, 1908, 1919. The collection is fragmentary, and most of it related to the Buffalo Hump district in Idaho County, ID.
