Biographical Note

Robert N. Hamblen came to Spokane Falls with his parents in 1887. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and established a general practice in Spokane in 1911. During World War I, Dr. Hamblen served in France with Hospital Unit C, a contingent of Spokane doctors. After the war he returned to Spokane and specialized in obstetrics and gynecology.

Content Description

The collection consists of correspondence from Dr. Hamblen to his wife and two daughters, 1917-1919. They chronicle, in some detail, the activities of a medical doctor during World War I.
