Historical NoteReturn to Top
Yvonne Angelino Beaudry was born in Clairmont, New Hampshire in 1908 and died in New York City on January 14, 1994. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire and Columbia University in Journalism. She worked in the medical history division of the War Department, 1945-1946, and then as a special researcher and writer on economic development and foreign aid for the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, 1947-1948. She assisted with an economic survey of Western Europe for the U.S.Senate, 1949-1950. She was a freelance journalist for most of her life with articles in the areas of economic development, human interest, religion, and travel. She was a member of the Overseas Press Club and the Silurians.

This collection concerns Yvonne Beaudry's career as a journalist. It contains original magazines, newspapers, and periodicals with her articles, such as "The American Society Legion of Honor", "Readers Digest", and "Catholic Digest". Story files contain notes and historical source materials. Beaudry wrote about areas she traveled in: France and Quebec primarily, but also the Western United States, South America, and China. Personalities such as Eva Gauthier, singer, and Jean Monnet, creator of the European Common Market, are featured in her articles. There are many other articles by her, in their original publications, on self-help and popular topics. Religious topics like the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and a noted Jesuit priest in Nepal are also included. Biographical information, correspondence, some personal photographs, and ephemera are also found.
