Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Bruce Hay, the son of former Washington state governor Marion E. Hay, was active in civic affairs and state politics and served as state Republican committeeman for several years. After his father’s death, he managed the Big Bend Land Company, a development corporation with business interests throughout the West.

The two scrapbooks contain clippings relating to state political events, 1930-1932, especially the campaigns of Congressman Sam Hill, Tom Symons, and Herbert Hoover. There are manuscripts for a speech, a convention delegate vote tally, and a narrative of political events, 1932. Also included are ephemeral items relating to the political campaigns of 1930 and 1932.
