Historical Note

Alan S. Krug consulted and worked for the National Wildlife Federation, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and the National Rifle Association. He received a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Management from Pennsylvania State University in 1974. He was a regional executive for the National Wildlife Federation's Mid-Atlantic region (1971-1978). Prior to that he had been assistant to the director of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (1967-1971); staff economist for the Institute for Research on Land and Water Resources, Pennsylvania State University (1965-1967); and wildlife biologist and land manager for the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission (1960-1964). He joined the staff of the National Rifle Association of America in the 1980s and developed programs on political and legislative issues for Pennsylvania.

Content Description

Alan S. Krug's papers contain copies of his research papers, newspaper and magazine articles, speeches, statements before lawmakers, reports and commentaries, and publicity materials about wildlife management, hunting, and firearms ownership and legislation. Also included are transcripts of his NRA-sponsored radio commentaries titled "Slow, Timed, and Rapid Fire."
