Historical Note

The Coeur d'Alene Mining Strike of 1898 was a defining moment in northern Idaho history. Martial law was declared by the government and federal troops were deployed against the miners. Union miners attacked the hired guards and even blew up a mill with dynamite. The Industrial Works of the World Union was formed by the same leaders of the Coeur d'Alene Mining Strike.
