Historical NoteReturn to Top

Born April 24, 1952 in Logan, Utah, Scott Datwyler grew up surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges, perfect for outdoor recreation. Scott took advantage of these opportunities in his hometown and began involving himself in various outdoor sports, including cross-country skiing and bicycling. Due to Scott's passion and appreciation for the outdoors, he opened and managed the Trailhead, a sports store that operated for 25 years on Main Road in Logan, Utah. Because of this store and his involvement with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Scott became well known among Logan and Cache Valley locals, especially the outdoor community. Among his family Scott became known as the "B" boy for his love of books, bikes, boats, blades, boards, beats, and boots. In 1977, he published a small book, Cache Tours, with Ann Schimpf that provides a tour guide for skiing around Cache Valley, Utah. On August 6, 2018, Scott passed away at the age of 66 of metastatic melanoma in his liver.
