Content Description
Commercially produced photograph album of scenes along the Columbia River Highway in Oregon, circa 1922-1939. The album, published by the Chas. S. Lipschuetz Co. of Portland, is bound in and printed on green paper. On the cover is the text: "Photographs / Columbia River Highway / Oregon / In All America No Scenic Automobile Trip Equals This." The album includes a page of promotional text about the highway and the Columbia River Gorge, and 35 small black and white photographic prints. Sights depicted include Vista House, the Mitchell Point Tunnel, Horsetail Falls, Mt. Hood, Multnomah Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Crown Point, the Pillars of Hercules, Shepperd's Dell Bridge, Latourelle Falls and bridge, Oneonta Gorge and bluffs, Castle Rock (now known as Beacon Rock), McCord Creek Falls, Tooth Rock, Bridal Veil Falls, Bishop Cap Rock and Bonneville Fish Hatchery. Approximately eight of the photographs have the Weister Co. mark.
