Summary
The Marsha Ballif Midgley photograph collection consists of general images of people and of classrooms with dictaphone equipment. Marsha Midgley had a University theatrical career and in 1953, she was the lead in the theatre department's production of Saint Joan.

Historical Note

Marsha Ballif Midgley was born on June 19, 1919 to Cora Hansen and John Lyman Ballif, Jr in Rexburg, Idaho. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1923 so that John Ballif, Jr. could study at the University of Utah and teach French. Marsha Ballif Midgley participating in theater productions at the University of Utah as early as 1923. She attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1939. After her graduation, she married Grant Midgley; together, they had three children. Marsha Ballif Midgley continued to perform in various theater productions in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1959 the Midgleys moved to Washington, D.C., where they resided until 1986. Marsha and Grant Midgley moved back to Salt Lake in 1986. They continued to enjoy the arts, politics, and their many friends. Marsha Ballif Midgley served on the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Board, Salt Lake City Arts Council, College of Fine Arts Board, City and County Building Conservancy Board, and the University Health Sciences Department's Educational Resource Development Council. Marsha Ballif Midgley died on October 23, 2004. (Source: Obituary. Salt Lake Tribune from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31, 2004)
