Historical Note

Phil Brodatz (1915-1985) was a photographer and photojournalism professor. He lectured at New York State University, New York City University, and the School of Visual Arts (New York) and headed the Department of Communications and Photojournalism at the University of Miami, Coral Gables. He published “Textures: A Photographic Album for Artists and Designers” in 1966. Brodatz won top honors for his photographs at the 1964 World’s Fair, and his images appeared on UNICEF Christmas cards.
