Historical Note
Fred C. Bishopp acted as head of the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1904 to 1953, the Division of Insects Affecting Man and Animals, and the Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine. Bishopp chiefly studied the common housefly and specialized in the study of ticks. He is responsible for assembling the Tick Collection at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.
Content Description
Collection contains pamphlets, articles, and periodicals on entomology, diseases and medicines concerning mosquitoes and malaria, and the relationship between insects and human health; restaurant menus; and minutes of the Association of Economic Entomologists and the Entomological Society of Washington.
