Biographical Note

Walter Oppenheimer's association with Herzl Synagogue began in 1940, although he and his wife did not become formal members until 1955. Ruth Oppenheimer became P.T.A. president for Herzl, and Walter was elected president of the Herzl Men's Club. Walter Oppenheimer was also a member of the Greater Seattle Lodge of B'nai B'rith and on the B'nai B'rith District 4 Executive Board.

The Herzl Men's Club was a service organization for the male congregation members of the Herzl Conservative Congregation in Seattle. Herzl Conservative Congregation merged with Ner-Tamid synogogue in 1970. The synagogue is now Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation.
