Historical Note

Edward Heyman (1907-1981) was a lyricist and producer. His most famous lyrics were for the song “Body and Soul.” Heyman was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975.

Collection contains biographical information; awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and others; correspondence, newspaper publicity, and interviews; a poster for “The Lion in Winter”; a photograph of Heyman; scrapbooks of early Broadway shows; bound volumes of published songs, unpublished music manuscripts, and music from The Kissing Bandit; record albums and a tape of parts written for Milton Kaye and Madame Butterfly; and a First Day of Issue stamp from the New York World’s Fair.
