Historical Note

Roger Bailey studied architecture at Cornell University, graduating in 1920, and was awarded the Paris Prize from L' Ecole des Beaux Artes in 1922 and again in 1925. He later taught at Cornell University, Yale, and the University of Michigan. In 1949, he came to the University of Utah as the founding chairman of the architecture department, later to become the School of Architecture. In 1971 he became the director of the Salt Lake Art Center, resigning in 1974.
