Biographical Note

Arthur Sidney Gallenson (1943-2014) was a pioneer of modern commercial river running in the west. He was a boatman for Western River Expeditions in its first year, and with Ron Smith, Art helped create Grand Canyon River Expeditions. Art became a commercial pilot and subsequent to his river running career was Chief Pilot and Manager of Lake Mead Air in Boulder City, Nevada. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, attended East High and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Geology. Art passed away unexpectedly in 2014 having endured a 21 years battle with Parkinson's disease.
