The Claudius Y. Gates papers (1947-1996) consists primarily of correspondence documenting the long relationship between the University of Utah and Gates, a major donor to the libraries of the University of Utah and the University of Utah Medical Center. The collection also includes appraisals, announcements, programs, newsletters, news clippings, and various ephemera.
