Historical Note
Volkswagen of America, Inc. was established in 1955, selling its first model of the Volkswagen Beetle. The company developed the Volkswagen Bus in the 1960s and answered growing demand with the Dasher and Squareback models. Volkwagen’s first U.S. based factory was built in 1978.
