Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) was founded in New York State in 1967 with the goals of disseminating information about soldiers’ experiences in the Vietnam War, working to end the fighting in Southeast Asia, aiding and assisting veterans, and promoting veterans’ rights. The organization had regional offices throughout the United States, and the Washington-Alaska Regional Office became active in 1971. Activities of the Washington-Alaska Regional Office included organizing pro-veteran rallies and anti-war protests, hosting events where Vietnam veterans spoke about their experiences, disseminating information about war crimes and mistreatment of veterans, compiling information on veterans’ benefits, promoting legislation in support of veterans’ rights, and fund raising.

The collection includes articles of incorporation, by-laws, correspondence, descriptions, ephemera, meeting minutes, membership rosters, posters, proposals for action, and other materials created by, or collected by, the VVAW Washington-Alaska Regional Office.
