Materials (i.e. newspaper clippings, photographs, various invitations and correspondence) regarding Robert G. Bailey while he was a member of the Idaho Legislator for 3 Terms Starting 1935. In addition to content concerning Bailey, the records contain newspaper clippings and materials regarding the Idaho Senate and House of Representatives.

Historical Note

Robert G. Bailey (1874-1952) was a politician and a historian, serving as a member of the House of Representatives from 1935-1940 and a member of the Idaho Legislature Senate from 1941-1942. Bailey was a historian of the Nez Perce County in the 1930's; he was the author of the River of No Return: Historical Stories of Idaho in 1935 where he records numerous true stories involving pioneer events, places, and people. He married Stella Cahn in 1905 and Dorothy Myrtle Lucas in 1921 in Lewiston, Idaho. Dorothy Myrtle was born in 1888 in Pomeroy, Washington and died in Redmond, Washington in 1979.

The first scrapbook was reorganized into 3 folders, the second was reconstructed and remains in a single folder.

Processing Note

The bigger of the two scrapbooks was organized into 3 subcategories: newspaper clippings and photographs from 1935-1941, newspaper clippings and photographs from 1938-1939, and finally newspaper clippings from 1952. The second scrapbook was reconfigured into a new folder all original material present.
