Content Description
Album compiled by George A. Mallett that contains approximately 500 black and white photographs, as well as maps, ephemera, and newspaper clippings, dating from 1895-1949. Many of the photographs have typewritten captions, some including dates. The ephemera and photographs in approximately the first half of the album depict sites and scenes in Oregon, particularly Portland, in 1948-1949. These include buildings, historic sites, ships, bridges, plaques and markers, statues, landscapes, and a number of houses in Northeast Portland. Other Oregon sites depicted include Oregon City, Salem, and locations on the Oregon coast. The photographs in the remainder of the album depict landscapes, buildings, tourist and historic sites, and ships in numerous other states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Washington state, and West Virginia. The album also includes photographs of powerhouses, engines, generators and other equipment, probably related to Mallett's job.
