Historical Note
The Seattle chapter of the Norwegian Seamen and War Veterans Association formed in 1979 in Seattle with the assistance of members from the New York Norwegian Seamen War Veterans Club and the San Francisco Norges Krigsseilerforbund. The group was made up of Norwegians who had served Norway in World War II and had later settled in the Pacific Northwest. While it flourished as a social group, the purpose of the association was also to help members receive benefits from the Norwegian government for their wartime contributions.
