Historical Note

"The Screen Player" magazine was published by the Screen Actors' Guild in 1934. When the Screen Actors' Guild merged with the Screen Writers' Guild, the magazine became "The Screen Guilds' Magazine". It was published under this title from August 1934 to February 1935. "The Screen Guild Magazine" was created when the Screen Actors' Guild again became the sole publisher. This title was published from July 1936 to March 1938. Its primary intention was to support the development of a strong union and secure a contract with the producers.
