Historical Background
Frederick & Nelson was a Seattle, Washington, department store founded in 1890. Acquired by Marshall Field & Company in 1929, the company closed its doors in 1992. The former Seattle flagship store is now occupied by the flagship store for Nordstrom.

Photographs documenting the construction of the Frederick & Nelson building at 500 Pine Street in 1950 including views of Seattle from the top of a nearby building.

The physical condition of some of the photographs suggest that they were originally from a photo album.
