Historical Note
In fall of 1946, an expanded student personnel program was put in place which coordinated and expanded the existing student services. The Student Counseling Center was started then under the leadership of Dr. Edward S. Bordin. It primarily focused on vocational counseling, and also offered remedial reading aid, as well as psychological counseling. 1946 also saw the establishment of a department in Psychology at WSC, and the director of the Counseling Center was usually a Psychology faculty member. As the Psychology program grew over the years, so too did the psychological services offered by the Counseling Center expand. The Student Counseling Center became Counseling Services in 1980-1981.
