Content Description
Samuel and Isaac Russell were writers. Samuel is the author of, "An American Decimal System of Weights and Measures," and Isaac was the founder of, "The American Soldier," an early newspaper for servicemen. Isaac Russell was also a correspondent for the New York Times after the Spanish American War, 1898. This collection consists of images of Samuel Russell, his brother, Isaac Russell and his sister, Lucy. Four portraits span the life of Samuel. There are also four prints which emphasize Isaac Russell, detailing his involvement in the Spanish American War and part of his career as a writer.

Description: Isaac Russell
- 1: Isaac Russell, born in Salt Lake City on Dec. 14, 1879. At age 18 founded "The American Soldier," a serviceman's newspaper, in the Philippine Islands during the Spanish American War.
- 2: Isaac Russell as businessman and publisher in the Philippine Islands following the Spanish American War.
- 3: Isaac was a reporter for the New York Times. Isaac worked on the article regarding the sinking of the Titanic with Marconi, the inventor of the wireless telegraph. This article won honors for him.
- 4: Samuel Russell, Lucy Russell, and Isaac Russell.
