Historical Note
Cecil Lawrence Brown was born on June 30, 1904, in Saskatchewan, Canada to William Nathan Brown and Mary Schneiderwind Brown. He was raised on a homestead near Homedale, Idaho and attended high school in Homedale and Emmett. After high school, he attended the University of Idaho, graduating in 1927 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at the university, he met Faye Louella Sudderth (b. December 19, 2005, in Moscow, Idaho), whom he married on January 18, 1927. While at the university, Faye and Cecil started the TKE Fraternity chapter for the University of Idaho in a boarding house that Faye's mother owned and managed. Following graduation, in September 1927, Cecil was hired as a clerk at the Pacific Power and Light Company in Walla Walla Washington. In 1928, their son, Lawrence LeRoy, was born, followed by a second child, Robert Dale, in 1930. Throughout the 30's, Cecil worked as a District Engineer and was involved in civic and service organizations in Walla Walla; Faye became a Noble Grand of the "Bee Hive" Rebekah Lodge #70 I.O.O.F and was involved in the local community. In 1943, Cecil was transferred to Portland, Oregon, where he was promoted to Chief Distribution Engineer for the Pacific Power and Light Company. He retired from the company after 42 years in 1969. Recreationally, Cecil enjoyed fishing and hunting and was often accompanied by Faye, their children, and grandchildren, of which they had five. Faye L. Brown passed away on March 5, 1980, in Portland, Oregon. Cecil L. Brown passed away on March 5, 1980, also in Portland, Oregon. Both were buried in the Finley-Sunset Hills Memorial Park cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Lori Brown Rush is the daughter of Lawrence LeRoy Brown and Frances Robson. She lives in Sherwood, Oregon.
