Historical Note

William U. Hill was the U.S. Attorney General of Wyoming and a justice on the Wyoming Supreme Court. Bill Hill received his B.A. from the University of Wyoming in 1970 and graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1974. He served as U.S. attorney for Wyoming, assistant attorney general for Wyoming, and as chief of staff-chief counsel for U.S. Senator Malcolm Wallop in Washington, D.C. Hill also spent years in private practice. In 1995, Hill became attorney general of Wyoming. He served in this capacity when he was appointed to the Wyoming Supreme Court on November 3, 1998, by Republican Governor Jim Geringer. He was retained by voters in 2000, 2008, and 2016. He retired from the bench on February 16, 2018. His term would have expired January 5, 2025.

Collection contains oral history interviews and transcripts of former Wyoming Supreme Court Justice, William U. Hill conducted by Leslie Waggener, Archivist at the University of Wyoming, American Heritage Center. Hill discusses his life history from boyhood to retirement from the Wyoming Supreme Court in 2018.
