Biographical Note
Janecek was the director of the Office of Public Information External Relations Division for the UN in 1960. The UN was established in 1945 by fifty-one countries committed to preserve peace through international cooperation and collective security. The UN is central to global efforts to solve problems which challenge humanity and is currently made up of one-hundred and eighty-eight countries.

The George J. Janecek papers (1946-1960) contain correspondence, programs, documents, and art work relating to the United Nations (UN). The materials contain information on the UN truce supervision in Palestine, public functions hosted by the UN, and other related activities.
