Historical Note

Laura Christensen McCurdy Clark was the seventh child born to Theodore Edward and Ellen Wasden Christensen sometime in the 1870s. She grew up in Gunnison, Utah, and later graudated from the University of Utah. She taught at West High School for twenty-five years, was a member of the Federated Women's Club, and actively crusaded to have the prison from Salt Lake City to the point of the mountain. She was married to David Sample McCurdy and then to John Clark after her first husband's death. Laura Clark's death date is unknown.

Content Description

The Laura Christensen McCurdy Clark family biography (1952) consist of "Two Pioneer Stories" by Clark. This is an account of members of her family and their journeys from Europe to Utah, where they helped settle Sanpete County. Included in the account are excerpts from the journal of Clark's mother, Ellen Wasden, and a description of Ellen's trek to Utah; a brief story regarding her father; a brief account of some of the incidents in the life of her uncle, William Wasden; and sketches of the lives of Clark's brothers, sisters, and grandfather, Herman Julius Christensen. Copies of photos of many members of the family, as well as genealogy charts, are also present.
