Historical Note
Hollis Leland Caswell (1901-1988) was an authority in the field of educational curriculum. He was a professor at George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee from 1929 until 1937. In 1937 he joined the Teachers College at Columbia University where he held administrative positions, including the role of president from 1954 until his retirement in 1962. Caswell was the author of many books and articles on education.

Collection contains awards and certificates; biographical information, including essays by Caswell’s former colleagues; correspondence; curriculum materials and proposals; invitations; manuscripts; motion pictures; notebooks that contain correspondence, clippings, reports, and speeches; photographs; programs; scrapbooks; scholarly articles by Caswell; and a thesis by Angela Fraley.
