Historical NoteReturn to Top
Robert Barnard came to Evergreen in 1971, and was deeply involved in developing science labs, science curriculum, and film programs during his tenure. He received his BS from Montana State College in the general chemistry program - building the first closed circuit TV system in the state and started teaching chemistry by closed circuit TV in 1958. His family moved to the University of Florida where he worked with John Baxter on a chemistry television series. Barnard then moved to Princeton University to work with Hubert Alyea, who directed a team to present science materials for the Century 21 World Fair. One summer he spent in Burdwan, India prior to returning to Montana State University. Barnard received Ph.D. came from Ohio State. Barnard was involved in various curriculum projects prior to coming to Evergreen, including the Advisory Council on College Chemistry and the Chemical Technician Curriculum project at Berkeley. He was also the Editor for the Journal of Chemical Education and the Journal of College Science Teaching. Barnard retired from Evergreen in 1980.
