James Greenfield (1867-1960) was a student at the University of Oregon, 1886-1890, from Echo, Oregon. He attended the University of Oregon Law School, then in Portland, and obtained his LL.B. in 1892. With a classmate, Loyal E. Woodworth, he founded the Pacific Mail Order Company, in Portland. In later years he practiced law.

Collections includes Greenfield's diary, correspondence, photographs, and miscellaneous family papers.

Greenfield's diary consists of three volumes (microfilmed for preservation) which detail the events of his junior and senior year at university of Oregon.

Correspondence dates from 1917-1949 and includes formal correspondence and letters to his family.

Greenfield's photographs consist of mostly photographs of his classmates as well as other prints.

Other papers include a commencement program, Case Chapter of PHI DELTA PHI, an autograph book, and documentation of military service for his father.
