Historical Note
Irving N. Fisher (1867-1947) was a political economist. He was credited with founding the Yale School of Economic Thought and the Life Extension Institute. He is also known to have invented to the Kardex filing systems and developed the “Economic Index.” Fisher lectured and taught at leading universities throughout the world.

Collection contains materials from both Irving N. Fisher and his son, Irving N. Fisher, Jr., including biographical information; books by Fisher and others; correspondence with Thornton Wilder, Lewis Mumford, Oscar Hammerstein, Frank Lloyd Wright, and others; articles by Fisher from the American Economic Review, Taxes, Journal of Political Economy, Royal Statistical Society, and American Statistical Association; and large number of playbills, drama books, and theater programs, including a manuscript for a play by Fisher called Poor Brinsley.
