Administrative Information

Arrangement

Boxes 1 and 2 are arranged alphabetically by name of tribe, state, or country. Box 3 contains postcards of the Navajo and Pueblo peoples, due to the large number of cards from these two groups. Postcards showing the Navajo are arranged alphabetically by subject. The Pueblo postcards are in two sections: alphabetically by the name of the Pueblo when this could be learned from the card, and then alphabetically by subject for the miscellaneous category. Box 4 contains miscellaneous postcards dealing with Native Americans, where no tribe, state, or country was evident from the card. These are arranged alphabetically by subject. Box 4 also holds postcards from other parts of the world (Africa, Asia, Europe, Mexico). Box 5 contains 35mm slides from the San Diego Museum of Man collection which document native and aboriginal lifeways, technologies, clothing, artwork, and religious traditions.
