Historical Note

Stephen T. Jackson was a professor at the University of Wyoming, Department of Botany. He received both his B.A and M.S in Botany at Southern Illinois University in 1977 and 1978 and his PhD from Indiana University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 1983. Jackson’s research interests included vegetation and climate history in North America since the last glacial maximum, climate-change adaptation, conservation biology and paleobiology, and translational ecology. He was also an adjunct professor of Geosciences at the University of Arizona, an adjunct professor of Life Sciences at Imperial College London, a professor emeritus and a senior fellow for Integrated History and Future of People on Earth (IHOPE) at Uppsala University. Jackson was also director of the Department of the Interior, Southwest Climate Science Center, U.S. Geological Survey in Tucson, Arizona.
