Historical Note

Mark Junge, a freelance photographer from Cheyenne, took photographs for the University of Wyoming Athletics Department and for two Cheyenne papers – the Wyoming State Tribune and the Wyoming Eagle, where he concentrated on photographing University of Wyoming sporting events, Denver Broncos football, Denver Nuggets basketball games, Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeos and concerts, events and entertainers at the Cheyenne YMCA and the Cheyenne Civic Center, and big-name performances at large concert venues in the Denver area. Junge also conducted research, interviews, and wrote articles regarding Wyoming and its people.

Content Description

Collection contains contact sheets and 35mm negatives of University of Wyoming football and basketball games from 1976-2002, Cheyenne, and other Wyoming events and people with corresponding digitized versions of these original negatives completed by Mark Junge; audio interviews with Keven McKinney and Kenny Sailors; book project and research files containing correspondence, notes, drafts, manuscripts, research, and photographs regarding J.E Stimson, photographer of the West, Wyoming: A Pictorial history, A View from Center Street: Tom Carrigen’s Casper, and other Wyoming history topics; and bicycle tour files containing photographs, notes, audio and video recordings, presentations, and article manuscripts documenting the many bicycle tours Junge participated in, including the 2004 Lincoln Highway bicycle tour.
