Biographical Note
Forestry and forestry consultant.
Herbert L. Plumb was born in 1889 in upstate New York. He received BA in 1912 and M.S. in Forestry in 1914, both from the University of Michigan. He cruised timber in Index, Washington in 1912 and began his career with the U.S. Forest Service in the Pacific Northwest in 1914. Supervisor of Snoqualmie National Forest 1939-1950. He worked as a private forest consultant thereafter. Plumb managed Sparkeel Tree Farm, Olympia, Washington, 1958-196? and was active in tree farming associations.

The Herbert L. Plumb Papers, accession number 1480-4 were organized and inventoried in December of 1993. They are a merger of several sets of papers, accession no. 1480 given by Mr. Plumb in 1970, and accessions number 1408-2 and 1408-3 given by Mrs. Betsy Piper in December of 1993.
