Biographical Note

Born Forest Wendell Hogg in Bonesteel, SD, he was the second son and third of four children born to Vergil C. and Irene Kolp Hogg. His siblings include Elaine Hogg Porter, Jim Earl Hogg and Glenn W. Hogg. He grew up in eastern Oregon, where he attended elementary, secondary and post-secondary public institutions. Hoag changed the spelling of his last name sometime in his early adult life. He married Mary Ann Nelson, a union which produced Earlene Faye in 1954 and Aaron Bruno in 1956, and ended in divorce after five years. He later married Jane Laurine Coffman and fathered female twins, Samara (Sami) K. and Corolla (Cori) K. in 1960 and son, Calyx, in 1963. In 1987, the marriage to Jane ended in divorce. In 1988, after a tenure of more than 25 years with SAFECO Insurance Company, Hoag took disability leave and later retired. He began a life of continuous travel.

Hoag travels by RV and in winter is based in Tucson.
