- Preston Linford (1888-1981) was an engineer for the United States Bureau of Public Roads from 1915 to 1958 and Helen Strobeck Linford (1897-1982) was a teacher in Ogden. The Preston and Helen Strobeck Linford photograph collection contains portraits, candid photographs, and scrapbooks of their lives, families, and travels between about 1930 and the 1970s.

Biographical Note
Preston Linford was born on September 2, 1888, in Panguitch, Utah, to Joseph Henry Linford and Mary Ann Haycock. Helen Marie Strobeck was born on December 6, 1897 in Madison, Nebraska, to Oscar Francis and Mary Halvorson Strobeck. The two married on March 12, 1921, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and soon after moved to Ogden, Utah. The couple had two children: Preston Dee Linford (1922-1977) and Helen Shirley Linford Athay (1924-2014). Preston worked as a district engineer for the United States Bureau of Public Roads, and throughout his career was involved in the planning and construction of infrastructure throughout Utah. He worked on the first survey crews in Utah after the 1915 Federal Highway Act. He retired in 1958. Helen Strobeck Linford was a teacher and member of the Elam Lutherna Church in Ogden and Zion Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City. Preston Linford died on September 27, 1981 and Helen Linford died on March 24, 1982.
Content Description
The Preston and Helen Strobeck Linford photograph collection contains family and individual portraits as well as candids of the Linford family. It also contains hand-tinted photographs of landscpaes and scrapbooks of their travels to national parks in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho. The collection spans the 1930s through the 1970s.
