Historical Note
Mann G. Flint was born on January 10, 1912 in De Beque, Colorado. His parents, Franklin and Illameda, moved to Los Angeles, California in 1921 where he found work as a conductor on the electric streetcar rail service. Flint met and married Grace Estelle Risdon on February 8, 1931 and they had two children and were married for 72 years. Grace's father was an amateur photographer with his own darkroom and Mann found himself intrigued with his father-in-law's photographic expertise. In 1944 the family moved to Cody, Wyoming when a large number of Mann's friends were relocated into the Heart Mountain Relocation Center. In the summer of 1946 the Flint family moved to Lusk, Wyoming where Mann opened Flint Photo of Lusk in the basement of the Ranger Hotel that September. In 1954 the Flint's left Lusk and moved to Eugene, Oregon and the studio became Flint Studio of Eugene which Mann operated until his retirement at age 75. Mann Flint passed away September 1, 2002, 49 days later Grace followed him.
