Historical Note
St. Maries is a city in north central Idaho, in Benewah County. The townsite was selected by Joseph Fisher, just southwest of the confluence of St. Maries and St. Joe River, to provide a location for a sawmill, first built in 1889.
Content Description
This collection consists of a transcript of a tape recorded interview of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Dittman of St. Maries, Idaho. The interview was conducted by Dr. Siegfried Rolland.
